Moss carpet for your bathroom

14 Sep 2010

Bring nature into your urban modern bathroom with a carpet that exists out of moss! When I first saw this, I thought it was a reproduction of the real thing, but it isn't.

moss matt for the bathroom

This bathroom carpet is made of imputrescible foam called plastazote. Each cell contains a piece of moss. The mat contains a total of 70 pieces of ball, island and forest moss measuring 6cm (2.4in) each in diameter. The humidity of the bathroom and the drops flowing from the body, water the mosses. This vegetable carpet procures a great feeling to your feet according to Nguyen La Chanh, from Switzerland. They will begin selling it in France. Later they will extend the market out of Europe... This wouldn't look bad in our bathroom and I love the feeling of moss gives!

The idea was to find a new way of having your plants inside. Not only plants in pots quietly standing in the corner of a living room but alive plants, evolving in the house. I think this mat would appeal people who miss a corner of nature in their appartment - perhaps if they live in an urban environment, far from parks and nature areas. It's relaxing, feels lovely and soft under the feet and doesn't need much care.

Living in Israel, I’m wondering if it won’t attract cockroaches. Any data on this?
