Blom by FontanaArte
Table lamp. Diffuser in milk white opaline polyethylene, petals in polycarbonate, base in painted aluminium. Diffused light emission adjusted by moving the petals. Available in 4 colors: ruby red, silk grey, pale green and yellow. Switch on transparent cable.
I like a table lamp that has character. This new "Blom" one designed by Andreas Engesvik (Norwegian designer) has it in spades. It was unveiled at Euroluce in Milan. Its name, contraction of the term "blomst" (flower in Norwegian), based on its shape consisting of screens in the shape of petals. A red one please!
Is this a pencil or is it a stylus? The answer is; it's both! It may appear as a regular pencil at first sight but it’s actually a stylus that works on your touchscreen devices. One side is a working pencil but the "eraser" is actually a built-in stylus made from ECR (Electro Conductive Rubber) that works with your iPad, iPhone, and other devices.
What a great idea, sketch on paper with the pencil for a rough draft and flip it around to refine the idea on the iPad. A bonus is that the pencil will feel very familiar. I still have to experiment drawing in apps such as SketchBook. Analogue and digital happily together.
A bike developed with input from cyclo-cross legend Sven Nys, the Cross Prestige is the ultimate carbon fibre cross frame. Sven has won so many cyclo-cross races on this bike so it has be great. A monocoque front triangle makes it tough and light, while lugged seatstays and chainstays maximize tyre clearance. Want!
It doesn't happen often that I like a paint job on a brand bicycle. I have to confess that the color scheme on this Colnago Prestige is pleasant on the eye. Clearly showing its Italian roots but not in a screaming fashion. I'm thinking about getting a cyclo-cross bike and this one is high on my wanted list. It's the ideal bike for Winter I think. For the more heavy stuff I have my Ridley Ignite mountain bike and during Summer I ride my Merckx EFX.
