A little workspace somewhere in your house that doesn't take up that much space and isn't too bad on the eyes. Impossible? With a bit of detective work chances are high that you'll find something that fits both needs. Below you'll find a selection of small desks that I wouldn't mind putting in my living room.

Minimal Wall Desk (Rift Oak)

The first one is a minimalist floating Wall Desk designed by Dario Antonioni that mounts easily to any wall type (wood studs, sheet metal studs, concrete, brick) to create a multi-use desk or display shelf.

DEX desk

DEX Desk is a refined, compact en minimalist desk that fits anywhere at home. The structural frame consists of two horizontal cross shapes of solid wood and a drawer unit.

If you have a laptop and hate cable clutter this is your desk. It's called StudioDesk by Bluelounge. All peripherals and excess cables are hidden just under the sliding desktop surface.

Copenhagen by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

Hay is always on my radar and most of the time they don't disappoint. These two desks called Copenhague desk CPH90 and Copenhague moulded plywood desk CPH190 are originally designed by the Bouroullec's for the redesigned University of Copenhagen.

Hyppolite by Hartô

Hyppolite is designed by Florence Watine for Hartô. Its small size and its geometric shape enables Hyppolite to fit everywhere! The bottom part is customizable in a wide range of colors which I like.

Nelson Swag Leg Desk

The oldest desk in this post as it was originally introduced in 1958. That doesn't mean that the Nelson Swag Leg Desk isn't modern though as it sized perfectly for a laptop, MP3 dock, and iPad. It makes efficient use of space and fits easily into your home office, kitchen, family room, or main living area.

Bermuda desk

Small desk called Bermuda desk that shares its design with the Bermuda Table from Asplund. Small desk that has a cut out and cable trench, ideal for computer cords and desk lamps.

Tati desk

Another beautiful desk from Asplund is the Tati desk designed by Mats Broberg & Johan Ridderstråle. This small desk with a drawer is designed to fit in a bedroom, small home office or hotel room. The desk frame in lacquered metal comes in colors of white or storm grey with a desktop in laminate, lacquered, oak veneer.

Designer Thibault Desombre didn't bother with symmetry when asymmetry is even cooler. Calling it a "poetic approach to the workspace". The Litho desk by Ligne Roset has enough character with its angled desk top to be an attention-getter.

Orson desk

The Orson desk is designed by Matthew Hilton and made in Portugal by De La Espada. It's made in rich hardwood and cast iron. Three solid wood drawers with dovetail joinery provide ample storage for desk accessories, while three small compartments at the back of the desk provide an efficient and attractive cable management system. There are also accessories available that match the design of the desk. There is also a compact version.

Vision workstation

Vision elements are a set of building blocks from Pastoe where you decide what goes where. That makes it very interesting and inspiring. The Vision workstation is just one element of those building blocks that can be used as a desk. A flexible object for the home that creates a nice synergy between work and play.
