For this new PS 2012 collection Ikea asked its designers to search for inspiration in more than 60 years of Ikea design history. However, instead of just simply looking back the designers were challenged to bring the designs forward by updating and innovating forms, functions, materials and sustainability while keeping Ikea's mantra in mind, namely keeping design affordable for everybody.
— IKEA PS project leader Peter Klinkert

It’s not new and developing IKEA onward. Instead, we can find inspiration from the past and innovate products that belong more to the future.
