Fossa Sofa by Aurélien Barbry

Finding a nice contemporary sofa isn't easy. Most of the time there is always an element that ruins it. Creating a contemporary sofa that has a look that is changeable is even harder. With the sofa you are about to see this is possible without much work.

Creative seating solution

Fossa Sofa created for COR is a creative seating solution with a modular perspective. According to its French designer Aurélien Barbry, who operates out of Copenhagen, designing is an existential exercise.

An exercise where you think about the most simple things in your daily life and ask yourself why you do like you do or how it could be done differently. When designing a chair, you have to ask yourself the simple question - what is it to sit down? You have to do that in order to create an alternative to the reality that already exists.

Lounger, bench or corner piece?

In asking those questions Aurélien Barbry came up with something a little more clever than other sofas out there. This contemporary sofa comes with detachable and easy adjustable backrest that can be interchanged or removed according to the desire of its users. The cushions are flexible and can be inserted, moved or removed. The spaces that remain when the cushions are arranged can be used for keeping books, magazines, newspapers, CDs and so on. Sounds fun that you have such flexibility. You could change its look when you are in a creative re-style mood. The Fossa can be a lounger, bench or corner piece depending on the configuration of the cushions. Other modular sofas make this much harder as they have different shaped blocks which you rearrange as a whole. Neat isn't it?

Very nice. Easy to find lost popcorn and spare change.

This looks super functional but I’m not crazy about the colors.
