If you love minimal achitecture you’ll love this house by CAAN
architecten from Ghent, Belgium. The house is situated at the Belgian coast in Oostduinkerke and is a collaboration between my client Designcollectors
and Rietveld Projects
The story of today takes place in Chicago, more specifically in a former cold storage warehouse in the historical Fulton Market district. In that 72,000-square-foot facility the second largest manufacturer of bicycle components SRAM,
has opened its new headquarters last Summer.
I've always been a fan of great design. When referring to great design in the furniture world you most likely end up at Vitra. Vitra
has been a family business for eighty years.
Working in an inspiring environment is essential for a designer like me. It affects my mood and creates a comfy surrounding to be at your best. It’s great to see that many of these young companies are paying much attention to just that. Let's make a jump to Oakland, California.
It's probably no coincidence that you are reading my blog. After all, it's high likely that you are a design lover
as well and you want to know everything about it. Today's article is the story behind Designcollectors
, a long time lovely client of mine. The people behind Designcollectors share this passion as well.
Wood has always fascinated me. It's also a wonderful material for long lasting toys. The item that has our attention today could be described as a toy for 'grown ups'. The product ticks off all my designer boxes, namely great color combinations, geometric shapes. You can use your imagination to build space ships, castles, an entire village or just a regular house. I like items that can take on another form when you are tired of looking at it.
The first time I saw the following product I immediately thought oh no not another copy cat. It wouldn’t be the first and certainly not the last. However this isn’t the case as Mal Furniture
, a Dutch, Eindhoven based design label has been granted a limited in time homage to Charles
and Ray Eames
. They re-created one of the greatest design icons of the fifties in plastic.
On Tuesday I took a little road trip to something I always look forward to. It’s a biannual event that takes place at the Kortrijk Xpo
. You could say it’s our 'Milan design week
Good things come in small doses. You had to wait quite a bit but I finally had some time to share what I have been collecting. Hope you'll enjoy what you are about to see after the jump.
The lamps that I am sharing today are created by PER/USE
, a new Belgian design brand launched in the Summer of 2013. They are based in Marke and offer a strong mix of furniture and accessories designed by Belgian and international designers. The functional collection, with a distinguished and timeless character, however not missing a contemporary twist, is inspired by known names as well as emerging design personalities. PER/USE works with a combination of new upcoming and established designers, Belgian and international, such as Lucie Koldova, Patrick Séha, José Cabrita, Frederik Delbart, etc.
