Modern Home Design Archives

It's probably no coincidence that you are reading my blog. After all, it's high likely that you are a design lover as well and you want to know everything about it. Today's article is the story behind Designcollectors, a long time lovely client of mine. The people behind Designcollectors share this passion as well. All their life, they have been fascinated by architecture and design, like the furniture by Vitra, Artek and Thonet. Surely, you are looking forward to meeting Tine Castelein, who runs the web shop and the other logistical activities of the family business together with her sister Charlotte and her brother Pieter.

Wooden Wonderland

01 Sep 2015
Wood has always fascinated me. It's also a wonderful material for long lasting toys. The item that has our attention today could be described as a toy for 'grown ups'. The product ticks off all my designer boxes, namely great color combinations, geometric shapes. You can use your imagination to build space ships, castles, an entire village or just a regular house. I like items that can take on another form when you are tired of looking at it.

Mal 1956

13 May 2015
The first time I saw the following product I immediately thought oh no not another copy cat. It wouldn’t be the first and certainly not the last. However this isn’t the case as Mal Furniture, a Dutch, Eindhoven based design label has been granted a limited in time homage to Charles and Ray Eames by Vitra. They re-created one of the greatest design icons of the fifties in plastic.

Interieur 2014

24 Oct 2014
On Tuesday I took a little road trip to something I always look forward to. It’s a biannual event that takes place at the Kortrijk Xpo. You could say it’s our 'Milan design week'.
Good things come in small doses. You had to wait quite a bit but I finally had some time to share what I have been collecting. Hope you'll enjoy what you are about to see after the jump.

MCE Lamp | Lights

11 Jul 2014
The lamps that I am sharing today are created by PER/USE, a new Belgian design brand launched in the Summer of 2013. They are based in Marke and offer a strong mix of furniture and accessories designed by Belgian and international designers. The functional collection, with a distinguished and timeless character, however not missing a contemporary twist, is inspired by known names as well as emerging design personalities. PER/USE works with a combination of new upcoming and established designers, Belgian and international, such as Lucie Koldova, Patrick Séha, José Cabrita, Frederik Delbart, etc.

Lovely small desks

18 Apr 2014
A little workspace somewhere in your house that doesn't take up that much space and isn't too bad on the eyes. Impossible? With a bit of detective work chances are high that you'll find something that fits both needs. Below you'll find a selection of small desks that I wouldn't mind putting in my living room.

Cat Cube

13 Dec 2013
Cat owners that have a modern interior will always have a hard time finding accessories for their pet that fits their style. Luckily there are designers that like to tackle that problem. It gets even better when today's item is being designed and developed in Belgium. Meet Delphine Courier's Cat Cube after the jump.
Good things come in small doses. You had to wait a bit but here is another special edition of some of my favorite discoveries of the past months. Hope you'll enjoy what you are about to see after the jump.
One of the most famous designs of Charles and Ray Eames got a little update. I'm talking about the iconic Lounge Chair from 1956. The new all black Lounge Chair was announced in April at Salone del Mobile in Milan.
