White is every colour. Black is no colour at all. That why I like off-white or off-black colours instead. But you use a background as well so… Do you agree?

@Petra Hendrik-Jan is right, it isn’t about the color white but about the room/breathing space between elements on a page. Some see that white space as a wasted space.
A white space is the room that you give any element to breathe. You can squeeze for exmple a logo in any part of a design. Give’em room to be more recognized…

I think, it’s not about the color of the background, but al about the space around the obvious element.
