Graphic & Web Design Archives

With the Waalse Pijl/La Flèche Wallonne race going on today it seems like the perfect timing to combine my passion for cycling and the love for vectors. Just like we did with Neil Stevens aka Crayonfire and his Tour de France Series.
The true inspiration seekers will have noticed some illustrations in my Inspiration Stream from the All Day Everyday Project. A fun project with a mission to design something cool everyday. A fun way to escape from a bit of client work. I bet you'll find what follows inspirational.
As some of you might know, music plays a major role in finding my daily inspiration. Last year I wrote a short article about which albums inspired me the most in 2010. These albums are still helping me a lot in finding that inspiration sweet point, but I thought it could be fun to renew this short list of favorites...
Most of the folks here know that I have a great affection for vectors. I'm always on the look-out for great work that involves iIllustrations. The result of that hunt is shown on my Inspiration Stream that I try to update once a week. I just came across this beautiful illustrative retro-styled animated commercial that made my heart skip a beat.
I've always been a fan of Illustration posters that consist of only a few basic shapes. If you've been a follower you have undoubtedly spotted a few of those in my Inspiration Stream. In this post you'll see some posters that fit the aforementioned category perfectly. These posters represent the International Year of Chemistry 2011, which coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize awarded to Madame Marie Curie.
I'm a very big fan of the music by independent artist Jaidene Veda. Listening to her always makes me feel good, and brings me in the right mood. Her beautiful sensual voice and music style gives me such inspiration. We came into contact with each other after I linked to some of her music via my Twitter account. We talked and after a while the idea started to grow to do a little collaboration. Always nice when you get to work with somebody you admire. Eventually I decided to create this cover illustration in celebration of her "Pisces Pendulum" Anniversary RMX/LP. The illustration is based on a photo she used for one of her "Pisces Pendulum" releases.
Regular visitors of my blog know that I love to share the work of other graphic designers, illustrators or artists. I've done a few interviews already with people I truly admire, and whose work I find highly inspirational. Besides interviewing people, I have this other source of inspiration called The Inspiration Stream, which is a collection of images of print & web design, photography, art, type, and more.
Oliver Sacks is a British neurologist who lives in New York City, and is professor of neurology and psychiatry at Columbia University. From what I understand these are old Oliver Sacks books that are being re-released with new cover art.
I'm normally not a fan of these design contests where you *might* win something but the results from the Minted Great Ideas Notebook Challenge are too beautiful to not show them. That's why I set my principles aside for once because they provide great inspiration value. The results tick off my liking boxes as they have a great color palette, awesome illustrations, pattern designs and typography.
Some of you might know that music plays a very important role in my daily life. It's something I can't live without. There is no day that goes by that I haven't listened to music. The right music gets me in the mood. I'm sure this applies to many people, not only the creative. My kind of music sparks my creativity, it gives me inspiration…
