Veerle,
maybe I missed something, but are we supposed to put the answer on your blog as a comment ? But that way everybody can see the answer to the dj-question !? Or should we mail it ?
2
@raven, I’m aware of this. But want to share the “fun” in the comments. My selection will be based on the originality of the answer. The extra question is to make sure I give the cd away to someone who knows this kind of music and appreciates it.

I visit Veerle’s blog because:
It’s simply the best tutorial-music-apple-software-hardware-rogersanchez-personal related blog that combines tutorials, and she’s from belgium! Everything posted (tutorials, reviews of software/hardware ...) I can use in my own workplace.
Answer to the question Junior Jack (however he has italian roots and doesn’t speak a word dutch :( )
4
Because I like sites with walking flowers in the header.
5
The dj is indeed Junior Jack !
Why do I visit (and keep visiting) Veerle’s blog ? To be honest: I don’t really know. Is it the fun stuff or the educational aspect ? Is it because she’s so down--to-earth or because of the colors she uses ? Because she’s an Apple addict or a party girl ? Her designs or her many interests ? Or maybe it’s just the combination of all those things that keeps me coming back for more. Whatever it is, just keep on doing it !!!
Live long and prosper… at least in 2005.

I certainly don’t come here for the CDs to win. :p

Name of the DJ is Junior Jack (but that’s already mentionned a couple of times, so that was easy :-).
Now the reason… I don’t know that many websites which are maintained by a woman. I think women have a different view on ‘(web)design’ than men and that there ought to be more women on the web (which will create more diversity on the Net).
I’m a hobbyist-webdesigner and this is one of the weblogs that I keep visiting, because of that special girlish view on design (that’s hard for a man to get, you know ;-).
Keep up the good work!
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

The answer is obviously Junior Jack :)
Why I visit this weblog… that’s a good question :P
I think it ‘s mainly because of the tutorials and (web)dev tips. En omdat ik verder geen Belgisch weblogs lees ;)
NB
I didn’t even know you were a woman until I read these replies so that’s not why I visit this :P

The deejay’s name is Vito Lucente, aka Junior Jack. For the insiders: c’est un Bruxellois.
The reason why I visit Veerle’s blog…
Well, I was searching for “super hot female + million-dollar contract” the other day. Unfortunately, Google didn’t give me Gwen Stefani’s latest anthem, but pointed me out to this splendid weblog.
So Veerle, What’You Waiting For?
10
Junior Jack. :)
I visit this place every day for a free cd contest.
11
Well, Junior Jack.
As for my reason:
I used to be a tablebased evil-do-er, but then I defected over to the light div-ision where I came across Veerle’s blog and, although I noticed her design&writing;talent imidiately, I still can’t help myself in pointing out little mistakes, wanting to help achieve perfection.
12
Who:
Junior Jack
Why:
Because I want to kickstart my career (I just turned 17 ) as a graphic designer and your blog inspires me to do things I wouldn’t try without your blog. (like using gradient maps, never heard of them before)
Ehh:
I started to like techno since a few months, my friends listen to it all the time. *hint?* :P
Anyway, good luck to you all, hard to post something orginal with all those creative minds. :)

I came here looking for some brussels sprouts, finding none, I kept coming back for a visit in the hopes that I had overlooked the most obvious of links. And then I stumbled onto a hidden link, to a different dimension, it took me into the land of the belgian waffle. And I have never been the same again. In fact I no longer am. I have morphed into a belgian thing. This is not a pipe dream. I am now stuck on a CD. But I am prefectly happy to be going around in circles. At least I am not as tied down as that Malpertuis fella. Or so I have come to beleive thanks to that little Vito guy. (Wished he wouldn’t spin me around so much). I miss Ray.
14
Well, I started visiting after I noticed you linked to one of the “IE CSS bugs” pages on my site. Then I noticed you were a cute female, so how could I resist? ;)
Merry Christmas!

This isn’t exactly about the contest. Just to tell you you’ve been linked on my blog.
Thanks for the css design tutorial..!

Well, I wouldn’t have been able to answer the DJ question - not really a fan for that kind of music. I’m a male software designer - and occasional website designer. Not much in common there either.
So why do I visit your site daily?
There’s the usual stuff: lots of good material about web design, and of course, the Mac stuff. (Notice I don’t call it Apple - that’s because I still have one of those funky II things in my closet.)
But I guess most of all it gets down to two things…
(1) Ibiza. Belgium. There’s a certain… European feel to things. Being American about the only things I run across daily that speak in those terms ALWAYS drift towards politics. I really appreciate the tone of your blog.
(2) Style. Say what you will, you can always tell when you come across a professional who knows what they are doing - as opposed to a wannabe pro. You can tell by the little things. Even those minor pieces are what they are for a particular reason.

Hi all, thanks for taking time for letting me know why you’re visiting me blog. Some of you are making a big chance here. The competition is still open till Monday 27th, so keep the creative brain in overdrive.
@Marc Kohlbrugge, Defected isn’t techno. I actually dislike techno to be honest, too heavy too many beats etc. Defected is “deep house” a mix of funcky, disco soulful vibes with a lot of vocals in it. Just visit the Defected website and you’ll know what I mean ;-) Whenever I hear this kind of music it makes me think about sunny places and I want to dance.
18
@Veerle, ow.. there goes my chance :P.. I do like the music on the website though :P.. ow wait Techno is that kind of computer-music with the distorted female voice kind a thing? Or is that called trance? Anyway, I like the music on the website :P.
19
@Marc Kohlbrugge, not to worry, I assumed you made a mistake here ;-) Well let’s say all track compilations on my blog are deep house or chill house (for example Naked Music), except for the track with the Mac voices Fred and Victoria, they’re more techno like. Unfortunately Beglium is a techno country, it is populair here, far more then the kind of music I like.
Then there is trance, this is again another kind of music which I like too, but the less beats the better. In trance you also have female vocals (like Jan Johnston) in a lot of songs. Tiësto, Paul Van Dyk and Armen Van Buuren are trance DJ’s that I appreciate. Artists I also like are BT, Chicane and Andain.
My absolute top favorite, if I really have to make a choice (not easy!) is DJ/producer Miguel Migs aka Petalpusher. He’s absolutely TOP for me. Just check out his album on the iTMS.

“Unfortunately Beglium is a techno country, it is populair here.”
Since when is Belgium a techno country? ;-)
You’re right though. It’s not my favorite musicstyle either and I hear it far too much on the radio.
I like soul and jazz more. Sade is a good example of that. It helps me to relax a bit… :-)
21
@Ben Branders lol ok you got me there :-D I like Sade too, got a few CDs of her, it’s pure class. Migs did a remix on one of her songs (I think “By your side"). A lot of deep house (like Migs) has jazz influences which I’m really in to lately ;-)
22
Veerle, thanks for clearing things up! I will listen to some of his songs.

I visit this place every workday only. That’s because it’s the shortest road from home (www.destandaard.be) to work (www.j/kwebdesign.com). After about 30 seconds I take the first link left from http://www.r7designer.com/news/css/000182.php
and go through the main page to the zeldman link. After about 15 seconds I’m at work.
