Web Directions North, not packed yet!
2007 at 09.32 am posted by Veerle Pieters
Sunday morning here in Belgium and I still have to pack our bags for the trip to Canada for Web Directions North. They pick us up in 3 hours :) That’s an example of how hectic things can get when you are trying to please clients by doing as much as humanly possible and tying up loose ends.
Preparations and working, a challenge
It has been a challenge coordinating the two things to be honest. On the other hand it has been fun working with Dave preparing our talk about "The Design Process". It's all about workflows and design processes and I think we have some interesting material to present. It will give people a good idea of how Dave and I approach things. From what I seen so far John, Maxine, Derek and Dave have managed to get a stellar conference of the ground.
First time to Canada
It will also be my first time to Canada, a country that I always wanted to go to. I'm excited to get to know Vancouver a little better and to get the camera back out to snap some shots. Luckily I'm gonna take a little breather after the conference to hang with the Paris gang and reload the batteries. Much needed to get the creative juices flowing :) The trip will be even more awesome since I just learned we are on the same flight as the one and only Mr. Malarkey, that should make those 9,5 hours more interesting I hope :D
Don't worry I'll keep you guys in the loop and be sure the tutorials will return too when I am back. I have some interesting ones in the pipeline for when I find time to actually do them ;)
If you now excuse me I'm off finishing packing: underwear check, toothbrush check, ski pants ... I'm so excited! :)

Well let me be the first to hope you enjoy your trip to Canada. I live in Victoria, which is about an hour from Vancouver, where I used to live. If you need somewhere to eat I would suggest the Red Onion, best burgers in the city.
Oh, and if you somehow wind up in Victoria, and need somewhere to stay, you know who to ask for lodging.

Have fun in Van!

Silly woman! Only three hours to go and you’re blogging :-)
I have a cousin living in Victoria, British Columbia. Only an hour away. Vancouver is a great city, you’ll have fun over there.
Break a leg.

Have fun in Canada and enjoy the conference. And the skiing of course :-)
Pity I couldn’t make it to WDN.
5
There is no need to rush up things… 3 hours to pack? Let me do it in 30 minutes :)
Have fun at WDN! (I want to be there to...)

You’re coming to Canada?
I just came to Canada! (I’m in Vancouver as of yesterday!)
Same thing really, had to finish off some work for clients and almost missed my plane.. Haha. So stressful, but the trip is always worth it!
Have a great time in Beautiful BC, and enjoy exploring Vancouver, it’s a great city (if not a little wet at this time of year)!

See you there!
We don’t leave until in the morning, and we are looking forward to it so much…

You picked a good reason to finally get to Canada! Web Directions will be my first conference, and I am so looking forward to it. I hope I will get to meet many people there, you included!

I can’t imagine what Mr. Malarkey is like on a long plane trip. I’m taking his workshop, so I hope he is doubly inspired after a long plane chat with you.
Oh, and it looks like there’s going to be new snow on the mountain next week.
See you at the party!

I wanted to go to this so bad but it just wasn’t in the cards. I’ve been to Vancouver once, and it’s one of my favorite cities in the world. Have a great time for us sucks that are stuck at home!

Canada is beautiful! I use to live there, you should definitely get some pictures of yourself snowboarding after the web north thing. make sure to post them on flickr and your blog. Good luck with everything at Web Directions North.

good luck with the conference, sounds fabulous. Your talk on design workflow sounds especially interesting. Any plans to release any info on the talk once you’re done?

Hi Veerle,
You as a “top-notch webdesigner” will ofcourse give a stunning presentation, but more importantly: enjoy your stay!

Veerle, your site is most inspirational in that your personal comments fit well into the overall effect that one gets from a visit. One of my sons lives in Canada. Miles Eldredge an excellent artist, has a site by his father,(yours truly), located @ http://zeromiles.com/
