The Common Desk

2005 at 02.02 am posted by Veerle

In the past we already talked about the fact that the decoration of your office has a crucial part in creating the right kind of atmosphere for inspiration.

If you’re not sure how to approach this at all then I strongly recommend watching this 40 min. QuickTime movie called ”The Common Desk”. Yes it is long that’s why I post this on a Saturday so you can enjoy it at home. But let me tell you upfront, It is a masterpiece and definitely one the best ones I’ve seen lately.

The movie is from an agency called ”Belief” and is a broadcast design & live animation studio. The movie shows you how to create the perfect surroundings for coming up with cool ideas through some real examples and they illustrate it with real work. It is full of humor and a real joy to watch. A wonderful way to show your talent to potential clients and for others a true inspiration! Looking forward to your opinion about it. Enjoy!

Found this a couple of days ago and I am happy to see it circulating. There is another movie, worth the 45 minutes of your life to watch it, called Pollinate: Chain Reaction. If you are a design professional, take notes, there is some useful information.

Awesome - I loved watching the movie and found it really funny in places....(really funny, I’m still laughing at bits minutes later!)

Although I also got the impression that it was about provoking ideas so much that...well, ‘procrastination’ is a word that springs to mind. Work still needs to get done: who has time to fondle bits of fluff and snort funky smells and lick stuff...it can’t be done in most workplaces I’ve been (unfortunately!) and it might just be avoiding the real task at hand.

Great little movie...thanks for posting it on your blog.

Matt

Link doesn’t seem to be working for me. Maybe they ran out of bandwidth?

I currently have the movie on pause like 5 minutes into it. This thing is like over 20 minutes long! Great humor for the office though :)

Amazing video! The epilogue is a really great story of how cruel the creation world can be, hehe.

If you haven’t seen it yet, check out this piece, it was the previous years pollinate.  Its not as funny, but still equally inspiring.
