Taking a break

2008 at 06.21 am posted by Veerle Pieters

You may have noticed already but I am taking a break at the moment. Today we just arrived in Austin, Texas for SXSWi. The previous days I got the opportunity to spend some quality time with my best friend Cindy in San Francisco.

The city by the bay

It was more than a year ago since we last had a real break. The weather was gorgeous, blue skies from the day we arrived. This also provided me with the opportunity to visit two of my clients that operates from San Francisco and meet them face to face for the first time. The rest of the trip consisted of shopping, visiting Muir Woods and working a bit from the Ma.gnolia HQ. Thanks again Larry :)

A photographic tour

San Francisco is an amazing city where there is always something going on. I guess you could call it nerd central. Hope you can enjoy some of the pictures I toke.

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful city. I just visited San Francisco for the first time a few months back visiting one of my clients and had a wonderful time walking the city for 6 hours.

I hope you can check out one of my favorite bands… ‘The Black Angels’ from Austin, TX who are performing during SXSWi. (The name is a reference to a Velvet Underground song)

Thanks for your wonderful Blog, which I just found tonight while googling for ‘CSS tables’.

Cheers from Seattle!

Hi Veerle,

I hope you are enjoying your break… :)

I’m liking all of your photographs but the one that stands out for me is this one

It must be the contract of the green against the brown or something, but it’s wonderful.

Hi V! Are you speaking a SXSWi by any chance? I would love to hear a panel by you. Keep up the good work and enough my little big city :-)

If you want a great brunch, btw, head to the Counter Cafe on 6th & Lamar. It’s a little hole in the wall that uses all local organic ingredients. Cheers

Hi Veerle,

Nice pictures. Just wondering though. What camera have you used to take them. Was it an SLR or a digital camera?

I only ask as a few of the images have a color cast on them so was thinking this was either the camera or you have been altering them in Photoshop?

Nice images though.

Best wishes,

Mark

I’m using a Nikon D50 with the 18-55mm kit lens and I warmed up the pictures a bit in Photoshop.

Mark said:

I’ll try if I find the time to do a blog post. It’s always a bit hectic during the conference :)

I’m invited on a panel but I still have to confirm and find out what day it is.

@ all others: Thanks for the compliments :)

I love San Francisco, and spent my summer vacation out in California this past year, too.  Hope you enjoy yourself at SXSW.  One of my favorite stores in San Franciso is Gump’s - it is a block or two beyond Union Square.

Like your pictures from Muir woods.
