Parking…. battle of the sexes

2004 at 08.12 am posted by Veerle Pieters

I think it’s time again for some fun. How about a game? This “parking” game is one to try. In real life I admit that parking isn’t one of my strongest qualities.

Parking.... battle of the sexesI rather drive a bit further to find a big parking spot and do a bit of walking then trying to jam the car into a tidy place just to get as near as possible. A bit of exercise never hurts right?

Back to the virtual world of gaming… Find out whether you are more of a male or female driver during these parking tests. It is fun but don’t underestimate this one. Hope you are not like me… you see, I have problems to distinguish left and right. That’s because I’m left actually handed but do a lot of things right handed too because they thought me at school (like writing or cutting). Some things I can do equally left or right handed like ironing, cleaning a window etc. In this game you use the arrow keys to go left or right and you don’t “actually” need to think about what is left or right, so no problem there. Only if the car turns around (like in level 2) I get lost and I confuse back and forward left and right and I do all things the opposite way… I want to go forward and I hit the down arrow instead of up arrow etc. I go completely tilt and ram cars all over the place :-D

Still I am the worst player in that game, I can only park the first (with a 100% of accuracy after a few tries) and last one and at the end it always shows me I’m definitely a male driver (phew!) :-D Those programmers must have a very low opinion on the female drivers :-|

Play this game!
Have fun and enjoy your weekend! ;-)

Damn, that’s one really hard game...After a few tries I just tried to be lighthanded and quick, not to fuss to much, and I finally got a real score :) (260 btw)

Really nicely made game though :)

First try: 0 points
Second try: 346 points

Don’t know what is good though (0 clearly isn’t =)

I still need to get my driving license. Hope things won’t be that difficult as they were in this game.

I managed 265 and I’ve never driven a car in my life. Who says all those years on the playstation weren’t worth anything?

Damn. Can we say nearly impossible! Did anyone submit their results to the insurance agency?

Anyway, pretty good find. I posted this on my forum to attract more folks. The first level was the only level I was able to get 100% too. The others were just tough. Especially trying to park that hefty van in the end with such little space.

The only way to not hit anything is to go super slow...but then your time runs out. What’s up with that? In real life, I’ve actually spent up to 10 minutes trying to paralell park. heh. Oh well. According to that game, it makes us all look bad.

I hate that game, because I sucked at it. I must play it over and over until I achieve perfection!

Nice game, but the whole marketing thing at the end was a turn off - so I left having only played once with a score of 266.

It’s easier to play if you turn the sound off. Hearing those car horns when you crash is distracting and makes me nervous. With the sound off I got a 139.

I *am* like you… It was great to hear about your left/right confusion and reason for it. I am a “righty” writer-cutter-eater, and a “lefty” everything-else (some ambidexterity here and there).

It doesn’t make any real sense, but I do think that it contributed to my own childhood confusion over left/right.

I too “blame” society and my parents for forcing right-handedness on me. I went through several years of little league throwing a baseball with little distance and less accuracy because of my right-handed glove.

This is where I was going to suggest a jokey rant/support website for “lefty righty-writers”, but of course I had to check Google first. Um… it’s more than taken care of, and less jokey than I expected.

Hmm… according to one site, I was developmentally stunted and was surely denied my destiny as a great baseball player!! You know what those guys make?!

That was a funny game, it is much more difficult to control the car in the game than to drive a real car.
