Nothing beats the real thing!

A while ago there was some turmoil about somebody who dismantled his G5 internals to replace it with PC parts. It turned out to be hoax.

This guy Andy said:

"Mac users are nuttier than a fruitcake. People have an unnatural emotional attachment to object(s) like computers. For some, their reaction was akin to me butchering their parents or a beloved pet."

Most PC users will never "get" the band that we have with our Macs. It's unique and unrepeated by other hardware manufactures. Also quite hard to explain ;-) You'll certainty never see 1500 people waiting inline to get into a Dell store if there was one.

When I first saw this picture the first thing that came to mind was "well here we go again!" It's certainly better then dismantling your brand new dual G5 that's for sure. When you can't afford the real thing or If you need to work on PC and want a "look-alike" this might be the answer to your needs. Still if you open the machine you can't disguise the real truth, because Apple's beauty shines also from the inside.

is it an acts of plagiarism or compliment to the originals design ?
I wrote about it here
Innovation hurts ! being original is not for everyone.
( but this is better than lots of Dells & HP’s;-) I love the wheels for a quick restart ! )

Oh my GOD. That ‘thing’ is so ugly. Damn. I even prefer a regular Dell case over this ... I’ve never seen a case as ugly as this one (and if I have, I sure don’t want to remember it :-))

Personally I think the whole thing is really silly. Why would I want my PC to look a Mac in the first place?? My PC is faster and cheaper than the fastest MAC, plus it does everything I want.

Now if I had a MAC I would be crazy to make it look like a PC or Linux. I am sure that I would be happy with the eye candy, status symbol and simplicity of it.

Now Linux is a whole other beast, where it is about having options, options and more options. Enough to drive most mortals crazy. But then you have to ask why would I want my Linux box to look like a MAC or a PC, but Lycoris.com is trying to do just that.

Thank god the speeds of all the systems are so fast that it doesn’t matter, more and more apps are runing on all platforms, prices are becomeing cheaper. So the computer doesn’t really mater as much and everyone can stop yapping about their system is better than the next person.

It really comes down to you as a person and what works for you. For so long humans have had to conform to the system, whene the system should conform to the human.

Hey, I use a PC ... and proud of it.

Also proud that not one d@m# M$ application resides on it.  Thanks linux.org

I guess we have something in common after all?!?

BTW, with OSX ... welcome to the un!x world.  Apple OSX, KDE, Gnome, etc… just goes to prove that a un!x core OS does not have to look ugly or feel klunky.  Maybe (just maybe) M$ will finally wise up and offer Windows XE (un?x edition); but not likely.  If you look waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the time machine, DOS was a port of CPM which was a scaled clone of un?x (if my feeble mind recalls correctly).  So hey Bill, embrace your roots!!!
