What a remarkable journey it has been! The What is Graphic Design poster competition by far surpassed anything that I had in mind. So many people entered and I really wish I could reward everybody. It’s unbelievable how many people have been using the creative parts of their brain. That was my intention from the get go.
My readers rock!
Here is a visual overview in no particular order of posters that grabbed my attention. If yours isn't here it doesn't mean anything other then I can't possible show them all :) Winners will be announced towards the end of the week. In the mean time enjoy!

Beautiful. didnt really have the time to join the competition what sucked. But for those of you who think it its interesting: I did almost get sued because of one of those pictures :(…

Whow the quality of the submissions is incredible! I can imagine it’s going to be a though job picking the winners!

There are really some great posters! especially the “huge water color numbers"-poster, or “heartbreaking” ...these are my favorites :)
mine is not shown here ;) but it is on the “not easy to answer"-poster ;D
was a really cool competition…

Wow! Amazing submissions, I can’t pick a favorite! I guess from the top of my head the “Beats me” stuck because it has a message that I relate to :) while being simple, funny and witty.
All in all, brilliant stuff!

I would love to have desktop wallpapers of many of these posters. I wish I had the time to join (stupid flu >.<)

This was a very valuable experience, mostly due to the large number of top-quality designs people contributed. It’s fairly overwhelming! (I’m sure Veerle would agree with that)

Yeah. The work in this competition was really incredible.
This was a lot of fun, too. I’ve been swamped lately with work and stuff at home, so it was nice to have a fun side project like this. Thanks Veerle!

Garden of Eden one is the winner for me (I can’t vote for my own now can I? :P )
Given me lots of inspiration for when I create other things now.

I had to send this post to my old favorite college professor. I was blown away by the quality of results and I couldn’t help but think of this being an assignment in GD 101 that once completed the teacher would show some of these examples. I could just see me back then - nervous, scared, and extremely inspired by what I’d just been shown.

What a fantastic variety of design, they are all so fabulous. I would have a hard time picking a winner, I love them all!!!!!

thoroughly enjoyed designing for the contest. my favorites are those that conveyed their written message with clever visual cues.

That’s what I get for trying to design something 20 mins before heading to work. Oh well, kinda funny that I can’t commmmmunicate. ;)
Anyway...Veerle, this was very fun and everybody’s work has been very inspiring. Reminds me what I love about graphic design. So many great submissions. Maybe somebody out there could turn this into a book.

Awwww shoot ... I only discovered this site :( ... I had a really unusual design planned too ...
Although I would probably not even come in close to the wonderful designs the guys here came up with ... maybe I’ll see the next competition before the deadline is up ;)

Veerle, as I said I just found your site and LOVE IT! I didn’t know that you were in Belgium I thought it was someone else’s comment-my bad, I should have asked, But I would have at least like you to see mine- I have always had graphic design blood running through my veins but I have only recently learned Illustrator and this is my 1st entry in any contest. Thanks for the opportunity I learned so much so fast!
