Junior Jack and Kid Créme In the House

2004 at 12.32 am posted by Veerle Pieters

Belgium is well-known for techno in the rest of the world but since last year we have upcoming talents Junior Jack and Kid Créme to change all that. Both DJ’s played in El Divino last summer (Ibiza) for Defected records. Junior Jacks real name is Vito Lucente and as you may have guessed has Italian roots but is living in Brussels since he was a teenager.

Junior JackThe first single that came under Junior Jack was “My Feeling” in 2000. In 2002 “Thrill Me” was a major hit on dance floors around the world. In 2003 he also had a side project called Room 5. “Make Luv” was used by Axe in the UK and was a hit worldwide. The Tune of the summer was “E-Samba”. His newest single “Da Hype” is together with Robert Smith from “The Cure”. You can view the broadband video clip here. Low-Fi version here. (You need Windows Media for both)

Junior Jack and Kid Créme In the HouseDefected is one of the finest UK labels around and their “In the House” series are awesome. Defected was established by Simon Dunmore (previously the manager of the old AM:PM label) and Janet Bell in 1999. The first cd I like to share is “In the House 3 mixed by Junior Jack and Kid Créme”.

This album has some uplifting vocal anthems, instrumentals and succeeds in making you feel good and that’s always a good thing! It kicks off with the soulful “Late At Night” from Soulsearcher followed by the cool voice of Kathy Brown.  CD1 moves through euphoric US House, some funky bass from 4Tune 500 and the massive DJ Gregory “Tropical Soundclash”.

Chicken Lips’ funky 80s throwback “He Not In” gets a remix treatment from Mutiny and is superbly mixed into Mike Dunn’s familiar anthem “God Made Me Phunky”.

CD2 shows the talent of both Junior Jack and Kid Créme in remixing tracks. So get ready for “E-Samba”, Lee Cabrera with “Shake It”, the instrumental version which is much better then the vocal one in my opinion. All in all a great CD and has 5 stars in my iTunes list. You can buy this cd from the Defected website.

Da Hype is “da bomb”; in either the video version with Smith or the album version.
