iTunes Music Store in Europe

Why is it taking so long? Every time I read some news from the record companies about their continuous ramblings about their sales that have been dropped again I get frustrated. As I understand it, in Europe there are SO many different labels…

This artist was 2 years ago with this label, then now he’s under this label etc. so discussions all over between labels… If they only would come to an agreement somehow it would get moving and an iTunes Music Store would be possible and they would sell. But no, they rather loose time and money on all this arguing instead of thinking ahead and seeing all the advantages of working together and setting up some nice project like iTunes Music Store for Europe. People can be short minded :-(

Tiscali music shopYou see I really want to buy music but they give the buyer so less freedom. They just don’t see the big picture, they don’t see it like Apple. If you look at what they’ve done with the ITunes Music Store, you’ll see that they have listened to what people want, you buy what you want and you are not as restricted as similar offerings here in Europe.

Take Skynet Music Club for instance… only available with a Skynet account. Or the Tiscali Music Club in Windows media player… I’ve tried this (on PC :-S), boy was that a hassle to get something! First...it doesn’t work on a Mac :-S

Second all tracks you buy are only in Windows Media format available, which really sucks! And you have to buy credits etc. so nothing like the iTunes store where it is clear simple and also very doable in price.... And on top of all if you listen to a track they let you hear the intro for a few seconds… How can you form an idea of a song when you hear a part of the intro?! At the iTunes Music Store you get at least an interesting part of the song, this way you have an idea of the entire song. And I can go on and on… I don’t believe these stores will last , they just don’t give you what you want, too much hassle, too much restrictions etc.
