Imago… developed by two Belgian Mac users

Since the topic of this week seems to be cataloging, this new solution for photographers will fit in nicely. The fact that the solution is developed by two Belgian guys is a nice bonus, and no I am not getting paid to plug it here ;-)
As I understand it the design and CSS was done by Frederick of Scene 24 and the programming by his friend Kasper. Imago was completely written in PHP, uses a MySQL database and runs on an Apache Server, which is the standard on the web. The reason why I’m writing about this is because I was impressed with the quality and speed of the product. It’s called Imago and is a complete solution for the professional photographer who wants to archive, catalog and sell his/her pictures online - fast, easy and painlessly.
It’s highly flexible since each installation is unique. The look of the admin is definitely inspired by Tiger which isn’t a bad thing since it looks very nice. What I like about it is that you see that they’ve put some thought into how things should look. To see Imago in action a visit to Vilda, the online portfolio of Rollin Verlinde and Yves Adams, two Belgian nature photographers is in order. Even if you’re not interested in Imago I definitely recommend a visit to see the beauty of nature in action.

Veerle- you are on a roll this week!!! imago is yet anothjer app that is very much on my mind at the moment. It seems to be tailor made for a friend who is looking to display, and sell, nature fotos. He wanted an eayy way to organize by subject and albums, and to easily manage the upload. I like the look of the way imago works: Mysql, Apache, PHP, Mac OS X! bello imago!

For all of you graphic designers or marketing professionals interested in an affordable web based Digital Assemt Management solution, check out MyBrandVault (www.MyBrandVault.com).
My company just purchased the service and it is wonderful. I used to spend hours searching for images on CD’s and on the company FTP site. This product actually provides you with a picture gallery AND let’s you perform keyword searches. Now I can do what I enjoy - be creative. No more menial boring hours searching for the “right” image!
