How does your working environment look II?
2005 at 01.58 am posted by Veerle
Today it is about a year ago that we started to have some fun with peeping into people’s offices. I think it would be fun to do this again. Many new people have arrived on this blog since last time and of course things change over time. In my case you’ll see that I don’t use my mirror doors G4 with 22 inch Cinema Display anymore.
I switched to a Dual G5 2.7 GHz machine and a 30 inch Cinema Display. Other things that we added are cabinets in two fun colors and our Xserve G5. I'll start by adding my contribution for this year.
It's always nice to get some new ideas from looking into other people's offices and sparkle the re-decorate bug. To contribute all you need to do is:
- 1. take a picture
- 2. crop/resize the picture to 420px wide by 315px (prefered height) and save it as jpeg
- 3. upload the image to your own server (or Flickr, use direct link to the picture)
- 4. post a comment by using :

Prepare your camera to flash :-)

My working environment: iBook with a little scrap Nec monitor, Nikon Coolscan IV Ls-40ED on the right, and my negative/positive films on the floor :) An HP 5100 printer on the top, and a radio always on! Cheers from Italy.

My messiness appalls me.

Yeah, that closely resembles the pic on your last topic; I updated that image last week :)

The place is like an old tables-based web page: it needs some tidying up! But I’ve somehow managed to find things so far.

My work space:

Bart Simpson poster
Altec Lansing Speakers
Nerf Basketball
Jack Daniel’s World Championship Barbecue poster
Radio to listen to morning show

Do desks with one monitor still exist?

And no word about the interview? ;)

@koen, damn it, you spoiled it now :-p I was saving me a bit of time. It was scheduled for tomorrow. Guess there is no reason to postpone it now ;-)

Here’s my mess @work (click to enlarge).

Still in school, and haven’t got much money… I’d kill for a 30’ ;) screen. Mine for some reason decreases the gamma, making shadows very dark (which is kinda bad för a designer)

I recently moved my desk to the upstairs of the front hall that overlooks a historical common in new england.

if you zoom in on the flickr you can see people actually painting our house from different angles.

Rather simple ... but all I need ... .

WOW! I came yesterday here from Google, I get back again today.. and I really like the blog. Very interesting technical information. And not only! You guys have very nice work places. Inspiration comes from what is around. Greets from Varna, Bulgaria :)

Starting out on my own these days. As a chameleon trying to match it all! My current desktop…

Hey Veerle, where did you get those big, blocy shelves you have hanging on the walls? I love their simplicity and would love to get some for my home office
30
Fuelrock: IKEA is a good place to start :)
31
32
Henrik, it sure is! I did look around and saw some nice things (and cheap, which is why I like Ikea) but couldn’t find those exactly.
33
@Fuelrock: Henrik is right they are from IKEA but I bought these years ago so I’m not sure if they still make them.
34
Thanks Veerle. They did have some shelves that were similar. A coat of paint would probably do the trick
35
messy office environment indeed....

I am just pleased to see others working on PC as well - any corporate designers here?
