Firefox put on a Safari costume

2004 at 09.46 am posted by Veerle Pieters

If you want Firefox 0.8 to look just like Apple’s Safari you’re in luck, there is now a Firefox 0.8 Safari theme. Just a little bit of warning this is no stuff for the faint of heart since the process requires seven steps in serious modifying. It is for people who highly customize their machines and know what they are doing! There seems to be a demand for this since it already has been downloaded 10.000 times!!!! I am just the messenger so don’t shoot me if your system is acting funny.

It’s a dangerous post you’re posting :-) The first time I read it I only read it half and I was already looking at the site and I nearly downloaded it myself but I didn’t have the time. And now I’m reading your post again (and more important: entirely) I see there’s a lot to modify. I’ve checked the link again and it’s just wicked and dangerous ... You even have to have Windowblinds installed. If there’s one program/tool I don’t trust, it is Windowblinds.

But it’s true, it looks super nice :-)

(Though I still think a PC is a PC and a Mac is a Mac. You’ve got to take your system the way it comes.)

I am so happy with pinstripe by Stephen and Kevin - I can’t imagine changing it for the Safari UI. Although I like that one very much too - I am a sucker for great browser interfaces I guess: can’t find the courage to throw away Camino and Omniweb either. :-)
