Belgian outdoor furniture part 2
2007 at 10.29 am posted by Veerle
We continue our exploration of Belgian brands that are leaders in designing premium outdoor furniture. If you have been following along you’ll know that we started this series with Royal Botania and Extremis. Today we shed our light on Tribù and Some.
TRIBÙ
Tribù is a Belgian manufacturer of high quality leisure furniture with a contemporary, attractive design. Tribù has been making garden furniture for more than 20 years. Ten years ago it started adding form to the functional by working with designers to create elegant furniture whose simple and refined lines look good both outside and inside. They have two collections, Tribù, which is cool and clean, and Versus, with a more Mediterranean mood.
Tribù - Vintage
Stylish colours and a clever sledge or stacking leg make this chair an absolute winner according to Tribù. A design chair by Bram Bollen for outdoor use, UV-resistant and anti-static.
Tribù - Natal Sofa
Natal Sofa is a new modular concept by Wim Segers. It allows you to create your own sofa composition so it's very flexible. All backs can be replaced or removed to make a personal and trendy sofa in which everyone can relax.
Tribù - ARC
Tribù - PURE teak-light
Versus - Terra
Versus - kos
Versus - Mystral
Versus - Praslin
Versus - Forum
Some Furniture
Some Furniture is a very young company from Kortrijk that was co-founded by Robin Delaere. He received his license in product development from the Higher Institute for Architecture and Design in Antwerp and pursued subsequent design training in California. One of the more eye-catching projects they were involved in is most likely the decoration of the pool area of the famous Palms hotel in Las Vegas.
Italic collection
As the name suggests the Italic collection veers somewhat off the straight and narrow. With shapes that slope at 10-degree angles, this furniture is a highly pleasing eye-catcher. Some Furniture uses viro, a hand-woven polyethylene fibre, durable, UV-resistant, recyclable and colourfast, on stainless steel or powder-coated aluminum frames.
Roman collection
The timeless design features of this collection are inspired by its functionality and comfort. The various lines are related to one another in their impeccable finish and unique appearance.
Bold collection
Straight lines and robust block shapes that makes you think of cubism. A club seat and bench in the same style complement the three different tables.
Mono collection
the Mono collection is made up of a block-shaped barstool, a pouf, an armchair and a smart stacking chair.
BeachBuddy
A new innovative companion for the beach designed by Robin Delaere. It's a very handy concept that can be changed with one hand turn from a comfortable seat to a sunbed. It's not only for the beach but also for next to the pool or the garden. You carry it around with a special shoulder belt. There is also a handy integrated pocket for your magazine, sun lotion, sun glasses etc. Available in 4 colors for 140 Euro.
What's next?
In the last part I'll do some research on foreign brands to see what they have to offer. When that's done you should have a pretty good idea of what's available out there.

First post, weeeeee :D
PS: Nice furniture

It’s interesting that the photographs aren’t really selling the furniture, they’re selling the locale and, by extension, the lifestyle. In particular, the second Tribù - ARC photo has little to do with the actual chair.
That doesn’t mean I don’t want them; I just need to find a place with a porch/deck/patio/back yard.

Simply superb !!

Go BeachBuddy!

Great post, although I personally liked the furniture from part 1 better :) Can’t wait for the last part!
@Nick: that’s what advertising is all about today. It’s hard to sell something to someone, when most of us already have everything we need (including the product advertised). Look at the ads for Coka-Cola or Pepsi.

SO beautiful. Nick made a really good point. It’s really about selling the lifestyle by triggering the emotions of the viewers. These photos just made me think of luxury beach resorts and lots of alcohol and massages ;)
Cheers,
Cindy

When I am rich, all of my furniture will be Belgian.
p.s. I like your site.
8
Hey this is just awesome:P Great!

It’s definitively about the lifestyle. That might be why I really really would like to have a “Bubble club” armchair designed by P. Starck produced by Kartell.
At the end of every “Boston Legal” episode, J. Spader & Cpt. Kurk have a drink and smoke a cigar in one of those…
What a life.
nice review by the way

Really love the Tribù designs, but I’m afraid I just don’t own the right house / location to match it ;)

Hi Verlee, as always great taste, great design and great ideas.
12
as I am a proud belgian myself I’d like to add the extremely beautiful quinze and milan stuff: http://www.quinzeandmilan.be/
jelly fish house, s-cape, and by-the-pool fit your garden well ;)

sometimes people focus so much on design and looking pretty they forget comfort. to much “high design” can also make things very cold and sterile.

Thanks so much for the wonderful photos. They really convey the beauty of the design.
