Arrived in London for @media

2005 at 03.28 pm posted by Veerle

This morning around 11 my boyfriend and I departed for @media London. We took the train from Deinze to Brussels, ate a sandwich and then checked in to take the Eurostar from Brussels to London Waterloo. This was my actually my first time I travelled with the Eurostar. Apart from the very poor Dutch by the train manager (it was advisable to pay attention to the French version instead, it was that bad) the trip went smooth.

on the EurostarWe arrived around 2.30 p.m. local time and took a cab to the hotel and checked in. Everything was perfectly timed to collect our badges (scheduled between 3 and 4 p.m.). Then it was time to do a bit of sight seeing. We walked towards the center of London and explored a bit and enjoyed the beautiful weather. At this time my feet and legs feel like they did the necessary exercise. So not to worry about the California burger I ate at dinner ;-) We had a serious walk in the park nearby and took a few pictures along the road ... not sure but I think it was st.-James park. Back to the hotel, first thing I did is to get a wireless access code to get on the WiFi. At the reception desk I got acquainted with Roger Johansson, you know from 456 Berea Street. A few minutes later Faruk arrived and before I realized it 30 minutes passed by. And talking about an exercise, the elevator seem to broke… our room is at the sixth floor. I think I will sleep as a rose… dreaming what tomorrow will bring ;-)

I was particularly impressed with your matching t-shirts on day 1! I’m also still practicing rolling the ‘r’ in Veerle.

Have fun Veerle!

Glad you had a good time in London, I’m sad I couldn’t make the event @media, as I was on holiday, still, maybe next time!

@Skittou, I enjoyed the Apple store a lot. All that people there, I bed there were around 250. Lots of people were waiting in line for the genius bar. I’ve bought the colored socks for my iPod mini and a leather case btw.

@Mathew, are you ‘that’ Mathew with one ‘t’ I met on the party of day one btw? About the (Veer) t-shirts thing, some people thought we were from Veer :-)

@Lazymouse, that would be great.

@Seba 909, it was fun, but I’m glad I’m back home. Belgium isn’t so bad ;-)

@train manager, you are forgiven for now ;-) Your colleague on the way home proofed that it is possible btw he did a perfect job.

The Dutch and English of our train announcer dude Brussels - London - Brussels was one of the highlights of the train ride.  Never heard quite anything like the Dutch, and the English was better than Allo allo.
