I live right down the road from the AOL headquarters in Virginia.  They are located in Loudoun County, VA, which, according to the latest statistics, is the richest county in the nation with a median income of $98,600 per year.

Just remember if you want to apply that the average single family house in that area goes for about 400,000 to 600,000.

(btw… I am on the way low end of that median scale.. I’m not bragging, just informing people of the costs of living in the “Silicon Valley of the East”

Another job for which I’m not qualified--yet--and is just “down the street” from me.

I live in Manassas...:(

Gee...I don’t know why everybody feels the need to post their excuses for not applying here.  For some odd reason though, I feel compeled to do the same.  It sounds like a great job...for which I might be qualified.  But I’ll be here in Columbia, South Carolina for the next few years while my wife finishes school at USC.  Now I feel better. Hmm, it’s only a 10 hour commute though. :)

Man, I’m torn here. I went into Information Technology. I’m in my senior year. Obviously I don’t have the experience this job requires yet. But I would prefer to work on the *creative* part of that job as well as the Technical part. I love design but that’s not what my major is about. I don’t want to just layout the pages that some designer came up with, I want to be designing them too! I need to figure out how I’m going to approach my career =/

Another noob here (and my first post, yeah!) and not ready for the job either.  Went into web design, but then realized I was missing graphic design skills so working on those now… my goal is ultimately to freelance but these jobs sound interesting… thanks for the heads up (and great blog, btw :)

Looks like I’m here to rain on your AOL parade. Do any of you actually *like* AOL? Especially web professionals? I’m sure you’ve all heard their record of customer service is simply atrocious, nonsense billing charges, offshore “support” who cannot effectively communicate (nothing against the English-challenged, just the annoyance of overseas outsourcing), trying to cancel your account is like poking your eyes out with sharp sticks, losing over one million customers within a 30-day period this past summer - I dumped AOL years ago and would never go back, not as a customer and surely not as an employee...do you really want to work for a company like this? Wake up, people, and stop sniffing for dirty corporate work - lots of better and ethically stronger opportunities out there!
