Adobe releases Adobe Creative Suite 2
2005 at 02.48 am posted by Veerle Pieters
Today Adobe announced Adobe Creative Suite 2, the design and publishing environment.
In the Premium Edition you’ll get yummy new versions of Photoshop CS2, InDesign CS2, Illustrator CS2, and GoLive CS2 as well as the recently released Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.
The most eye-catching features are enhanced CSS support in the new GoLive (can’t believe it’s going to be that easy), vanishing Point in Photoshop and at last an update to tracing features in Illustrator. For more information visit the above links.
Didn’t really like the previous icons of the apps but they appear to be nicer in this version. So as soon as I get my hands on a copy of Creative Suite 2, watch this space for tutorials on most of the new features and if they are as easy to use as the movies like you to believe ;-)

Looking forward to reading your tutorials, Veerle!

I thought it was interesting to see that the Opera browser is going to be integrated into GoLive and Photoshop - quite how that’ll work I don’t know, but I really hope it means they’re going to come up with decent (x)HTML and CSS code.

with adobe activation don’t expect many folks will be upgrading.

Hope they will have some discounts for recent buyers of CS. Wouldn’t really feel like shelling out another €600 for an update for a three-months-old, €1200 suite :-/

@vanni: Macomedia already uses something simular and people are using it so I think it will be the same for Adobe. For me this is no show stopper if implemented properly.
@Josh Jarmin: Thanks for the links, I’ll check them out when time permits ;-)
@Marcel: Thanks for the indepth article link.

Finally! Visual CSS. Well its nice to see that the technology (CSS) for handling the VISUAL style of a web page is now a VISUAL process. No reason for typing visual instructions for presentation; so I’m curious to see how intuitive the process really is. Looks like a big leg up on dreamweaver.

I have problems figuring out how a wysiwyg-editor like GoLive can make proper css-code for people without any knowledge whatsoever. Maybe they’ll surprise me.
