A peek into the wonderful world of nature
2004 at 02.28 am posted by Veerle Pieters
If you are into nature like I am, you’ll love today’s posting. Meet Belgium’s finest extreme wildlife photographer Guido Sterkendries. On his nice website you’ll find all the amazing creatures that nature has to offer. He’s always discovering and exploring the unknown and its inhabitants. Most of the animals or creatures on the site are never seen before or very rare and hard to find.
By not focusing on popular and large animals, he creates a forum for small animals and reptiles. These often tell us more about environment and their life quality; the combination of these two create a visual document most humans will never experience. This is an amazing guy!
Let’s take a glimpse: the Harlequin Toad, an extremely endangered specie. In the first place they are threatened by a new fungus. This new discovered unnamed fungus that suffocates the amphibians by coating their undersides and legs could be the cause of a major decline for these frogs. Scientists do not know where virus came from or how it spread around.
So go ahead and enjoy this unique photographical journey.

Guido is GREAT, Veerle ! We know him personally, we have some of his great pictures ( originals ) postered in our house as a remembrance to ... He’s a wonderfull guy, down to earth ;-) It’s a pity that the better booklets and magazines don’t use his work a little more. They sure miss out there!
If you ever get the chance to meet him ( live that is, he’s often ‘away’ ) don’t miss out ! Wonderful initiative to post on him !

I was Guido personal assitent in Panama when he made that picture. Even for a native like me, was really hard to spend all that time in the jungle day after day, sucking wet just looking for that perfect shot. Bravo for Guido and his frogs
