People really seem to like my Illustrator tutorials, but I do receive a lot of e-mail with one common question ”How did you create those curvy lines used in motion trails?” The first thing that you need to master and become proficient in is the Pen tool.

One of my favorite Photoshop features is the Smart Object one. It has saved me a lot of time because you can avoid repetitive tasks. It’s perfect when you design template web pages with temporary content placeholders etc. But that’s just one advantage…

Apple Leopard text effects

34 comments 2007 at 09.20 am posted by Veerle

One thing I’m impressed with about Apple’s new system GUI in Leopard is the “inset effect” on the text in combination with the new window chrome. Several people asked me about my opinion on Leopards GUI and I thought I combine this with another question I received on how to create this “inset effect” on text.
So I’ve decided to investigate this subtle effect further via Photoshop layer effects as well as Illustrator’s effects.

Here is another step-by-step tutorial (per reader’s request) where I show you how to draw the basic shape of a coat of arms and a banner by using the Pen tool and Reflect tool in Adobe Illustrator. Can a Path turned into a Shape Layer in Photoshop?

I always try to find time to answer e-mails I get from people with questions about Illustrator, Photoshop, CSS, design, ExpressionEngine etc., but it is rather frustrating to get an error message back that the e-mail couldn’t be delivered because the address doesn’t exist. So please double check and make sure you’ve entered a valid e-mail address. Sometimes I can’t give a true answer or an answer that will really help you, but I always try…

The Adobe Knowhow palette

I have been fortunate enough to watch Illustrator CS3 grow into a very nice update during its beta cycle. A more closer look at the new application is forthcoming, but for this article I want to focus on something that isn’t commonly known to everybody. That’s maybe because it’s buried a bit deep in the application because of its preview technology status.
