On Wednesday we had a few hours left to stroll around Paris a bit. Paris is such a beautiful city. It is a busy city with wide lanes and a lot of cars but the way everything is arranged you still don’t get disturbed by it. Sorry for my UK buddies but I personally find it much nicer then London, hard to explain but it has a sort of a romantic sense to it and we only scratched the surface. In London you get the feeling that traffic gets priority over the pedestrian. It gave me the feeling of being sucked in a hectic pool sometimes. In Paris they spend more thought in making it as comfortable as possible for the pedestrian, like wide sidewalks with trees etc.
So have a look yourself on my Flickr page. Hope they can make you daydream a bit ;-)

End of Summer yesterday but not according to the weather gods. In other words such a beautiful day for a visit to the “City of Light”. We arrived at noon after a 3 hour drive from our hometown. It’s amazing that we survived Place de la Porte De Maillot and Place de l’Etoile. Driving there is a bit like in the Far West, a place where there aren’t any rules anymore and it is everybody for themselves. The weapon of choice is the hooter and you got to have eyes everywhere. A bit of a nightmare if you haven’t got a clue where to go… Luckily our kamikaze driver Kenneth did! :-D

Here at Duoh! it’s time to say goodbye to some old but trusty friends who served us well. So like any good parents we are looking for some folks that would take good care of our buddies and give them a pleasant home. I am talking about some original iMacs.

Time for some music now, when browsing through the ITMS recently I saw that iTunes Music staff added an album that I bought in 2004. NRK’s Nite:Life 20 Miguel Migs - 24th St. Sounds. I think it is about the historic, tree-lined street known as El Corazon de la Misione, or ”the heart of the Mission”. Miguel has been on my top list for a long time and after meeting him in Ibiza for a chat the love for his vibe only got stronger. This laid back down to earth guy gets me moving with his latest example of the sunny, jazzy, funky music also known by some as deep house.

All good things come to an end and so did my holiday. I’m still adapting to Belgium weather again. After being used to temperatures from 36-40C coming home and having 18C it feels like winter. We already experienced the ever changing weather with wind, thunderstorms, heavy rain, sun, etc and that all in 4 days :-) So let’s say that I am still looking forward to some hot August Summer temps.

Just handled my check-list so that I don’t forget anything for our trip. I am quite excited to leave everything behind for a relaxing holiday. An excellent time to recharge our batteries and sparkle some new creativity. Exciting times are ahead with cool news when we are back. So enjoy your Summer time. Next sign of life will be from Cyprus with some pictures if the wireless access don’t suck :-)
Update: Arrived safely and the filght went really well. The hotel looks superb so far ;-) Time for the pool now :-p

I’ve been reading a lot about accessibility the last few days. One of the latest articles about this issue is over at Andy Budd’s place. He is saying that it is in a small part up to the law to make people/companies aware of those issues. Well I can only follow to a certain degree. Yes the law/gouverment should have a role in all this but not necessary a legalization with a negative tone by forcing things or fear by legal action. It’s very good that people in UK have a legal route if they feel that they are discriminated but I personally think a lot of those people just don’t bother to go through all the hassle that is associated with it.

The @media conference
Lots of people have already posted an extended review of the @media conference , while I was enjoying London during the weekend. So I’m just gonna post my impressions and give you some of the highlights. Jeffrey Zeldman’s keynote speech was a perfect starter for this conference. After all he is the (famous, at least in ‘our’ world) man that inspired us all and made us care for web standards. Same goes for Molly Holzschlag, she is a real pro and gave us some promising news, an exclusive that we have to keep for ourself at the moment since it hasn’t been officially announced yet.

Well, what can I say, I’m having a great time here. There is really too much to write about, it’s like my head is exploding right now ;-) I feel like I’m living on adrenaline the last couple of days. It’s so intense to have so much fun and meet all those people. The conference was really great on day one and the second day was even better. It was a bit of a rush to get on time.
