Adobe’s upgrade policy

I recently looked into the matter of upgrading to the CS collection and it seems that Adobe is screwing their loyal customers. Upgrading to every CS program separately cost you almost as much then upgrading from 1 product to the entire Standard or Premium Suite. For example if you own Photoshop 7, Illustrator 10 and InDesign 2 you pay 553 Euro to upgrade all of them.

So people who just have Photoshop in any version can update to all these programs for only 579 Euro. Adobe doesn’t make a difference if you are a loyal customer who bought every update of all these programs in the past, no special prices, no bonuses, nada! :-( This makes me really mad if you think about the fact that they always complain about illegal downloads etc. They’re asking for it don’t you think?

We get no favors and are treated the same way or worse then people who skip versions all the time. We are in fact the victim of Adobe’s brilliant idea of bundling their products and making sure that people buy the whole suite. It goes as far as when looking on their store that you will have hard time finding the separate upgrades. Can you tell I’m a bit frustrated! ;-)

iTunes Music Store in Europe

Why is it taking so long? Every time I read some news from the record companies about their continuous ramblings about their sales that have been dropped again I get frustrated. As I understand it, in Europe there are SO many different labels…

This artist was 2 years ago with this label, then now he’s under this label etc. so discussions all over between labels… If they only would come to an agreement somehow it would get moving and an iTunes Music Store would be possible and they would sell. But no, they rather loose time and money on all this arguing instead of thinking ahead and seeing all the advantages of working together and setting up some nice project like iTunes Music Store for Europe. People can be short minded :-(

2 Things to get frustrated…

weather… Monday and bad weather! :-(

Look at this forecast, wouldn’t you get frustrated or agitated?

A couple of weeks ago I was at the beach and it was hot, really wonderful, 30°C! I left my towels in the car just hoping and believing that I would go back to the beach one of these days… but I guess Summer is REALLY over now :-(

But we can’t complain, we had the best Summer ever, it started in May already and it ended just 2 weeks ago. I remember it hardly rained where I live from the end of May till end of August, that is really exceptional.

And here I am, sitting behind my beautiful Mac listening to my CDs I bought from my Ibiza holiday… Thank God there is this nice music to keep me in the mood :-D And another comfort is that when I posted this it was only 22°C and heavily cloudy on my favorite Island too (Ibiza) ;-)

MX, XP, CS,… what is this!

Aren’t you going crazy about today’s applications version names! Adobe yesterday added a “CS” monicker to its application names. What ever happened to plain old numbering? :-S Yesterday Adobe announced their brand new versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. ... and guess what, the marketing boys did a chat with Macromedia I think!
