Cool frames in Photoshop CS

I’ve been using Photoshop CS for a while now and some of the new features are really cool. For instance the previews of the Artistic, Brush Strokes, Distort, Sketch and Stylize filters are very handy. You get a good idea of what the filter will accomplish after applying it.

Colors Part II - The Color calculator

12 comments 2004 at 02.25 am posted by Veerle

Last week we talked about colors and its relation to design. A lot of helpful tools were posted in the comments but today I came across another one, it’s an interactive color calculator that lets you play with complementary colors. It can even translate your colors into CMYK which can be handy if you also need the colors for print.

Colors make half of your design, here is some advice

When designing a website from scratch, one of the first things that keeps you busy is defining the colors you will use. Sometimes finding the right colors can take some time. First you think about the purpose of the product or company to define the shades. For instance if it has something to do with nature you think about green shades. Then there is the factor that one might like the combination of colors but others don’t, you have to try to figure out what the client would like. Or if it’s your personal blog then it should be your favorites shades of color.

The Adobe Apple Tour 2004 is coming to Belgium in February. If you want to discover the power of Apple's G5 combined with Adobe's Creative Suite this is your event. Apple will also demo Panther and that's a wonderful beast. Panther is spurring on our companies Macs since October 2003 and it has been a really smooth ride so far. So if you still have any doubts in upgrading to Panther you'll have to go take a look at this event. Panther is the best MacOS so far.

Free registration is available at: http://www.adobe.be/adobeappletour

I am still working with Photoshop 7, Illustrator 10 and Indesign 2 because of the high update price if you own several licenses like we do. The loyal customer is the peanut with this upgrade because all the favors are for people who just have an older version of Photoshop. They can upgrade to the creative suite for a very cheap price. Adobe does nothing for people like us who have bought every update of all the programs in the past. I called adobe to make a complaint about that but so far without any response.

Panther desktop

I made a Panther desktop from the picture I've taken somewhere in October on a Friday morning with the pink, purple sky. Hope you like it and download it! In return I only ask a bit publicity for our Duoh! website since the logo and URL are in it :-D

I made it in these resolutions:

World’s Tallest Virtual Building

To remain in the nice pixel-look (ref. yesterday’s post), I found this interesting website… By downloading the template people were able to build their own virtual apartment. Since the apartment has reached its limits of 1000 meters height and 331 residents you’re now unable to add another apartment. Still I really wanted to share this with you, since this is really a cool idea :-)

This is 1 of the many wacko apartments:

GoatbirdEver wondered how a cross-breed of a lion and a monkey or a monkey and a frog would look like? Or how about a dog with 4 heads, a bird with 6 legs... ?

Yesterday I came across a site and found these weird, funny pictures (click on enter)... I bet who ever made these pictures, has used Photoshop :-P .... and has done a pretty "nice?" job?? Maybe "interesting" is a better word to describe this ;-)

See for yourself and watch those freaks !

Photoshop improves your look…

It’s common knowledge that Photoshop is being used to touch up or manipulate the image of products, models etc. Now I came across a master in deception, a real Photoshop guru, his name is Greg.

In his portfolio you will get a pretty good idea of what is possible and what is being used nowadays in advertising. Greg opens his magic box of tricks and I can tell (as a Photoshop user) it is amazing! On his page you can see a “before” and “after” very interesting to view. The downside to all this eye-candy is that I can only conclude that I feel like an amateur next to what he does ;-)
