It’s that time again, when you can vote for the panels for the next edition of SXSWi. Since 2006, I’ve traveled to and attended this big event in Austin, Texas. I like going to SXSW, not only because I get to see most of my overseas friends but also because I always have the opportunity to meet new creative people, learn new things, and share ideas. SXSW is really an event for connecting with people. This year I didn’t join a panel, but for next year Cindy Li asked me if I was interested in doing a panel and we asked Leslie Jensen-Inman if she would like to join us. The 3 of us have become really good friends over the past 3 years and the idea of doing a panel together made me smile.

Starting with simple shapes as a basis for your design can give you surprising results. By trying to apply them in a creative way and by experimenting you can end up with an amazing design. Today I’ll show you how to draw 4 simple shapes fast and easy. I’m thinking of the perfect wave line, the perfect heart shape, the perfect water drop and a diamond shape. They seem very easy to draw at first sight, though maybe you’ll learn a few tricks on how certain things can be done easier, faster or maybe just more prefect or natural.

As someone who has a soft spot for typography in general, it is a rather difficult taks to choose my top 10 favorite typefaces. It feels a bit like shifting through all those nice (600 and more) entries I received for the ‘What is Graphic Design’ poster competition from a while ago. What a tough job that was selecting the winners. So here we go…
