This will be the last post from now untill March 1st. Don’t worry I will be back in full force with Veerle’s blog 2.0. Yes, the cat is out of the bag I’m working on my redesign as we speak. I’m going to need all the time that I can get to pull this one of. Remember, I have to do client work in between too, so that’s the reason that everything is going in full stop mode ;-)

Got you there ;-) Please remain calm, breath and for God’s sake stop all the FUD. The Belgium papers even write about it so it must be a slow newsday. Some even speak of a wide spread panic among the Mac community. High time for some real facts and tips to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of this malware.

France has its Eiffel Tower and we Belgians have our Atomium, a replica of an iron molecule with nine aluminum spheres. It was built for the World Fair of 1958 in Belgium. Its engineer André Waterkeyn came up with the idea in 1954 to celebrate scientific progress. The event was the first after the New York world fair and the first world fair for Belgium since 1935.

Did you come across the following situation before? This happens to me several times a day when I’m designing : you want to scale a huge picture that you just pasted in a smaller Photoshop document. The transform handles are out of reach, way off screen. What I normally do is change the ‘Reference point location’ to top left and I enter a value of 10% as width and height and then I drag the handles to achieve size I want. But there is a better, much easier and faster way, namely ‘Fit to screen’ or command/control + 0. Maybe it’s a tip a lot of you already know, or maybe not? So simple and yet I never thought of this before. Well hopefully I’m not the only one.

I am working on a redesign for for several touristic regio sites here in Belgium. If you think of vacation, you want to see pictures and when I start designing stuff, I want my files to be as big as possible to have all my options open. That’s when e-mailing large files comes into play. You know, we have an Xserve and an FTP account for clients but not all of them are happy or technology minded to use it. You probably have been there too, some of them would even mail 100MB if it would be possible :o)

Some tools don’t get enough attention, this tool might be one of them. You could compare it somehow with the Healing Brush, although there is a difference. This tool works like a regular paint brush, it manipulates the color on your image while the underlying texture stays unaffected. Because of this, you can apply a color change in a more precision way.

Just a quick question on this gray Friday here in Belgium. I’ve put up my thinking cap for the next version of this blog and I wonder if I may pick your brain for a minute?
I’m constructing a grid of things that I consider important and was wondering if I should keep the calendar item in the next revision? Do you use the calendar to browse to older posts or not? Other suggestions are welcome too. Thanks in advance.

FACE stands for: Faruk’s Animated CSS Enhancements. It is a technique that combines JavaScript with the flexibility of CSS. It’s a way for designers to create animations without having to know Flash or JavaScript, so you could say that it fits in the world of script.aculo.us and MOOFx.
