Boy do I hate comment spammers, they make life miserable! :-( Right now my blog is under attack and I loose lots of time in research to find the bastard to block him permanently. He’s using spoofed IP addresses and this makes it extra nasty to find who is doing this. A Google search brought me to the conclusion that I’m not the only one right now who is suffering from the same comment’s spammer.

In the past I’ve written some articles to show my disappointment in the fact that the iTunes Music store wasn’t available in Belgium. It took way too long so I waited impatiently to enjoy the simplicity of buying.

A recent job of mine was to design a CSS template page for an invoicing system that works entirely in a browser environment. There was one condition: the template should be designed so it works both on Mac and Windows. For Mac, Safari would be used as browser and for Windows (XP) FireFox.

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, a strong logo can evolve over time and still remain recognizable. When designing a logo you can be influenced by certain design trends. To achieve a strong logo you need to find a certain balance between being timeless and modern. Modern, to keep it a bit trendy and stylish, and timeless, to remain recognizable and strong. Not an easy task.

If you had a rough weekend then I would not recommend trying these optical illusions out ;-) First let’s try the snake. If you can’t get enough there’s more here. I especially like the “Chrysanthemums”. Amazing how your mind thinks these images are moving. Weird stuff! You’re not only going looney be looking at them but creating these should also drive someone crazy :-) Don’t watch them too long since there are no vomit bags included with this post :-p

Creating a new logo is always a challenge. So how about improving a logo and give it a serious update? That is something different, sometimes leaving some of the old design in the new design is advisable. In other circumstances it’s better to give the housestyle a 180 degrees turn around. It’s my experience that making a design work with an ugly logo can be very hard and a serious restrain on the inspiration. It’s not the first time that a feeling hit me that it doesn’t fit anywhere. Something to that extent can be a deal-breaker.

I don’t have to draw a picture on how insecure the PC world is and you would think that with all the media attention people realize that security is serious and necessary. Well think again! Since October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month in the US they conducted a poll at the Digital Edge Expo in Washington, D.C. To put it lightly the figures we’re a bit of a shock to me.

Recently I needed to draw a cogwheel for a project and I wonder if the steps I used to draw this is actually the fasted way to accomplish this. Maybe there are better, easier and faster ways. Of course taking in account that you need to draw this yourself and that you don’t go looking into some graphics library, since I’m pretty sure you’ll find it in most libraries. Actually this is something you should drag and drop into you “Symbols palette” for future use once you’ve drawn it ;-)

It has been a while since I did another peek in my cd collection. Yes still using those since we are still waiting for a Belgium iTunes Music Store. Apple says October will bring another launch of new Music stores so let’s keep our fingers crossed that Belgium is on the list.
