Via kottke these stunning photorealistic drawings in Illustrator popped up. After the amazing cruise ship from Kevin Hulsey another fine piece of art that makes me dream of applying gradient meshes. A whole lot of patience is also needed to create such a drawing. You can view the drawing in outline to figure out how it was done. First class stuff!

Since I began our visual journey of Belgium you’ve seen Knokke and Ghent. Time to move on to other nice places in my country. Yesterday our Toyota dealer (De Prins, Machelen Zulte) set up up a 4x4 event that explores the Flemish Ardennes. 60 Toyota jeeps joined the adventure. Our RAV 4 took us to gorgeous places that are otherwise off-limits. Not that we destroyed nature or so, all off road trips were on paths that are being used by farmers to reach their fields. My responsibilities as a co-pilot were to give directions from the road book. A challenge for me since I sometimes have trouble with left and right (I’m both left and right handed) :-) Between stages there where tests like driving on a course blindfolded.

I haven’t tried the new beta version of NetNewsWire 2.0b3 yet, but I’ve taken a look and one thing is for sure I don’t like the icon. Especially the hard black border around the satellite and the globe is rather disturbing to me. I’m more a sucker for the smooth or liquid style. So I fired up Illustrator CS and redrew the globe and satellite in my own style.

Yesterday evening Kenneth (our PHP programmer) invited us to go sailing with his boat. We explored the lovely downtown of Ghent. The first two photos are actually a funny story. The shots are taken from the restaurant/bar boat across Decascoop (big cinema complex). We dropped anchor right next to it and ordered some drinks through the window, so it was a kind of a sail-in :-) Kenneth also used the window to go to the restroom as you clearly see on the picts :-p

Hurricane Ivan is one of the most powerful Atlantic storms in recent history and if we are to believe climate experts more such storms are likely in the future due to global warming. Ivan was a Category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Hurricanes need warm water and the oceans are heating up.

CSS resources.... So many links to bookmark for later use. You don’t always need them right away, so what I do is manage my bookmarks in Safari and my dot.Mac. It’s nice to have them around but it would be much more handy if I had one document. A document that I can store and backup on DVD etc. There are some websites who have a list but what if those are down, it’s the Internet after all.

Fall can be lovely especially when all those colors pop-up and leaves starting to fall, but to me it is the messenger that Winter is on its way. Not that I can’t enjoy a skiing holiday or walk in the Alps. You could classify me as a Summer person. Beach and sun are a great way to recharge my batteries, those are the two things I miss most during Winter. If it where up to me I would kick Fall’s ass back into October so that’s why I’m so grateful for the marvelous weather we’ve been enjoying the past two weeks.

This sounds very interesting and I think this idea has great potential since most bloggers already link to iTunes or Amazon anyway. This iTunes Affiliation Scheme will make it possible to earn a little money by showing your musical taste to your readers. Personally I find those music links interesting because it’s a great way to discover otherwise unknown music. It’s not all intrusive or annoying, at least not to me.
