Today I had to do a rush job in CSS and XHTML. All went smoothly until I previewed my work in Internet Explorer 6 on PC. My buttons kind of jump or move when you roll over them and my fly-out submenus isn’t perfectly positioned either, it partially overlaps the main menu and they appear below my content on the right…. First thing you’ll notice is that I use table tags, but I’m still in the middle of things and I’m going to change this at a later stage when I have more time. Right now the only thing that matters is getting this menu right.

I’ve been using Photoshop CS for a while now and some of the new features are really cool. For instance the previews of the Artistic, Brush Strokes, Distort, Sketch and Stylize filters are very handy. You get a good idea of what the filter will accomplish after applying it.

It took you countless hours of research, blood, sweet and sometimes even tears when looking for a solution to build a standard website that validates and looks good in every modern browser. So now you want to add a little Flash movie as icing on the cake. Most people will use the code that Macromedia generates for this.

At first everything looks fine in your browser, that’s until you go back to the W3C to see if it validates. What follows is pure frustration grrrl… Your hard work down the drain because it no longer validates anymore because of Flash.  Look at this ‘bad’ example to see what I mean. Click on the link at the bottom to check the validation and see the long list of errors.

Today’s post is especially for my PC friends who don’t have access to a Mac when developing a website. So no more excuses ;-)  A cool showcase of programming skills done by Daniel Vine. With iCapture you can take a screen dump of your website as you would view it with Safari 1.2 under MacOS X. I’ve tried it and it works great. Ideal for cross browser testing. Within 30 sec you have your screen dump as long as the queue is empty. The screen dump is saved for 24 hours in the PNG format. The real deal is of course much better, but this way you get an idea if your page looks right. iCapture is quickly approaching 24,000 uses and hopefully a few more after my post here ;-)

Most people don’t listen to vinyl records anymore. But maybe you didn’t know that they are still out there, mostly as 12” for DJ’s to mix at parties. I remember when the CD came out people said that vinyl will die a quick death, but now many years later it’s still alive. Probably the most famous vinyl player of all times is the Technics 1200. All well-known DJ’s prefer this turntable. I still think that vinyl sounds a lot better then CD’s, it has a richer/warmer sound in my opinion.
