In need of some HD space?

Bigger Disk If you are lucky enough to own a G5 Mac then you have 80GB or a 160GB HD at your disposal, but if all that isn’t enough then you’re going to like the next part. Lacie has just announced a new Hard Disk with 1 Terabyte of space called “Bigger Disk”!!!

So how much can you fit on this thing? Wait lets take a closer look. What about video? Bigger Disk allows users to store up to one month of non-stop MPEG-2 video, nearly two years of continuous music or in others words that is more than half of the current selection size at the iTunes Music Store!!!!!!

It’s hard to imagine yourself saying this thing is full I need more room, but then again when I worked on my Quadra 700 long time ago, I was also thinking with such a disk big disk (140MB) that it would last forever :-)

How’s Winter at ibiza?

2 comments 2004 at 04.45 am posted by Veerle

The hordes of Summer visitors have departed, most of the hotels are shut, many souvenir shops and cocktail bars have locked and barred their doors.... When it is Winter at Ibiza, it is the most gorgeous, peaceful and relaxing time of year for the locals.

Ibiza in Winter has unfortunately remained a well-kept secret, known only to a few discerning holiday makers, sports enthusiasts, hikers. Ibiza has a mild climate (temperature rarely drops under 0 C during Winter) and remarkable vegetation. Snow is a sensation, and the children save snowballs for weeks by putting them in the fridge! From November to April the average daytime temperature is about 15 C - however when the sun comes out this can rapidly climb to 25 C.

The future of comments

2 comments 2004 at 08.39 am posted by Veerle

It’s bad enough that my mailbox of Entourage is filled with spam everyday but now we also have to be careful with the option of comments on blog’s like mine. What happened is that someone wrote an automated comment spammer for Movable Type. I am not using Movable Type so maybe I am still safe for now since my blog is powered by pMachine.

pMachine has some measures build in to prevent such a thing but still the thought that spammers are taking this route isn’t a happy one. It would be a shame if all popular blog’s are disabling there comments since that’s a part what makes them attractive in the first place.

Belgium at his best!

Belgian police have caught two rabbit poachers whose armor-plated getaway car was equipped with so many gadgets it would not have been out of place in a James Bond film. The poachers were caught overnight with 14 wild rabbits in the back of a car that they had reinforced with metal plates to stop bullets.

The car was also equipped with an automated box ready to spring tire traps to slow pursuers. The poachers had fitted a halogen lamp on the outside to blind their prey and shielded the car’s number plates with lead sheeting to avoid identification. There was also a device to eject two old bicycles fixed on the back of the car on to the road as an obstacle to any vehicle in hot pursuit.

The beast is lose!

The Adobe Apple Tour 2004 is coming to Belgium in February. If you want to discover the power of Apple's G5 combined with Adobe's Creative Suite this is your event. Apple will also demo Panther and that's a wonderful beast. Panther is spurring on our companies Macs since October 2003 and it has been a really smooth ride so far. So if you still have any doubts in upgrading to Panther you'll have to go take a look at this event. Panther is the best MacOS so far.

Free registration is available at: http://www.adobe.be/adobeappletour

I am still working with Photoshop 7, Illustrator 10 and Indesign 2 because of the high update price if you own several licenses like we do. The loyal customer is the peanut with this upgrade because all the favors are for people who just have an older version of Photoshop. They can upgrade to the creative suite for a very cheap price. Adobe does nothing for people like us who have bought every update of all the programs in the past. I called adobe to make a complaint about that but so far without any response.

Full Mars panorama snap released

Planet MarsTime to get in Sci-Fi mode now, the US space agency’s Mars rover Spirit has sent back a complete 360-degree panoramic colour image of its location on the surface of the Red Planet. The composite picture provides a startling glimpse of an alien world, one which Spirit is due to begin investigating early on Thursday.

A high resolution version of the image will help scientists decide which parts of the landing site to explore. The presence of carbonates may indicate that some of the rocks formed in water. The rover should spend 90 days travelling several hundred metres to analyse rocks and soil for past evidence of water, one of the key requirements for life.

Exposé for Windows !!!!

1 comments 2004 at 10.29 am posted by Veerle

Some people have no shame at all. What am I on about? Well “Go Daddy Software Inc.” has made a software haxie for Windows that is a total rip off of Apple’s Exposé. Everything is the same even the name “WinEXPOSE”.

If this where my software I would at least have thought about a new feature. It’s like stealing a webdesign from another person and don’t even bother to rename everything.  Somebody will receive a letter I think from Apple’s legal department soon. What’s your take on this?

Update on 02/10/2004They’ve changed names! http://www.winplosion.com/.
I wonder why ;-)

Fred and Victoria Apple’s new dance sensation?

It’s common knowledge that Macs are being used by great music artists such as Moby, Seal, Faithless, BT etc. But now Mac voices used for speech are also becoming musical artists themselves! Here is a true story, ever heard the single “Satisfaction” of Benny Benassi with those Mac voices? Victoria goes single in his new smashing dance tune “Able To Love”...! Do we have 2 Mac celebrities? :-D

Apple introduces the iPod Mini

0 comments 2004 at 01.33 pm posted by Veerle

Today at MacWorld Steve Jobs revealed a little mini iPod. iPod mini lets you bring along enough music for a three-day weekend getaway in a package so small you’ll forget you’re carrying it. It is the world’s smallest 1000 song player. The iPod mini is available in five colors.

iPod Mini
Personally I have a bid of mixed reaction on this tiny player, most of that has to do with the price. Still a few months away from being available in Europe I wonder how much difference their will be in price when being compared to the US. If it would cost 240 Euro I would give it some thought. How about you?
