As I mentioned in my yesterday’s post, I’m still a bit of a newbie when it comes to advanced CSS. My blog is actually my first website made with CSS2. I learned this by exploring CSS blogs, analyzing their code, looking at online CSS tutorials, experimenting etc.

I would like to thank Paul Scrivens of the community resource CSSVault for listing my site. This site was actually my first attempt to get serious about CSS and this listing is a great reward and motivator to go further in that direction. Also many thanks to all the people who have mailed me and said beautiful things.

A direct result of all this is that our server gets a lot more traffic then before and I hope that people will find this blog interesting enough to come back to once in a while. Yesterday my blog received almost 400 people and today were at almost 300. Amazing!

I just came across a very interesting read for us web developers (everybody else also) in a blog from a Microsoft employee (Robert Scoble). This guy is some kind of spokes person for the development team of Internet Explorer.

For those who aren’t familar with the term Usenet, Usenet is the Internet’s oldest message board where archives date back to 1981! It contains tens of thousands of groups of every imaginable topic and everybody sees what everybody else posts.

It seems that Internet Explorer is a hot topic in the CSS designers community right now. If you make websites for a living then you probably know what I am talking about, but for those who have no clue maybe this will shed some light. The typical process of developing a website starts in Photoshop and so far no clouds are to been seen. When the client approves the look it’s off to DreamWeaver and BBEdit.

My post from yesterday about my blog following W3C standards is still warm and maybe you’re asking yourself this question “why“? Well here’s why: One of the biggest national newspapers “Het Laaste Nieuws“ recently redesigned its website and look what happens if you’re using a web browser like Safari or Mozilla etc, In other words browsers who promote standards.

Finally I got my new blog online. It took a bit more time then I thought because of all the self-study that I needed to do to get things going. No more hassles with iBlog and it will render much faster too. I’ve used the newest techniques like XHTML 1 and CSS2 to achieve a “cleaner” result ;-)
This site follows the W3C guidelines and I’m very proud of it. It took some sweat and tears but it was all for a good cause since one of my promises to myself is that I’m going to use the CSS techniques I’ve learned as much as I can when building sites for clients. It will be my (small) contribution to a standard compliant web!
Don’t hesitate to become a member on my blog because members will get some benefits in the future ;-)

It was 1984 and Big Brother was everywhere BUT one guy and his team thought differently. Luckily for us because it is thanks to his thinking that I am typing this on a Macintosh. I am talking about Steve Jobs and his team that created the Macintosh 128k, the first affordable computer with a Graphical User Interface today exactly 20 years ago. They made an ad about it to mark that legendary moment. What’s great about this ad is that it is still the reference in the advertising world and this 20 years later.

Coca-Cola has heralded [url=http://www.mycokemusic.com]http://www.mycokemusic.com[/url] as “the first consumer branded, legitimate downloadable music site”, but for most of yesterday the website - aimed at British internet users - was offline, causing red faces at Coke and probably some laughs at Pepsi headquarters.
