His style is most recognizable by his big headed characters, straight lines and polished look. In his color palette he uses lots of pastel tints. By using more vibrant accents the prefect color balance is achieved and the prefect contrast is set. Your attention is drawn to these details and that's one of the reasons why I find them so beautiful. I like his subtle use of depth, shadows and reflections. Very outstanding illustration work.

Is there a special place you need be in to get new ideas?

I really wish it was at my desk, but generally it isn't. I actually think best sitting in a comfy chair with a nice cup of tea. I also quite often get good ideas after a quick snooze.

Very cool! I used to draw a lot at one point. Now that I have learned to use the pen tool in photoshop, and I have a Wacom tablet, plus a scanner, I should start again.

As well as being fine illustrations, they also display some finely-observed and nicely-judged humour.  Great stuff.  What you say about the balance he achieves with his palette is shrewd comment.

Thanks Veerle!
